Department Funds
Friends of Sociology Fund
Unrestricted support for the Department of Sociology within the College of Arts and Sciences. Gifts to this fund are used at the discretion of the Chair and are directed to where the need is greatest.
The Pepper Schwartz Endowed Fellowship in Sociology for Relationship Studies
This endowment will provide fellowships to support graduate students whose research focuses on the study of families, intimate relationships, and sexuality.
Hubert M. Blalock Memorial Fellowship Fund
Endowed fund in the Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences. Supports meritorious minority students in first-year graduate studies.
August Wilson Fellowship for the Study of Social Problems
This fund, established by Bob Crutchfield and Susan Pitchford, is in honor of playwright August Wilson and is intended to support graduate students in the Department of Sociology who are interested in studying major social problems and pursuing a career in sociology, and whose work will be credit to the late Hubert M. Blalock
Albert W. Black Endowed Fund for Undergraduate Student Support
An award given to UW Sociology undergraduate students who have chosen to do internships in the Seattle and Puget Sound community with nonprofit and public service organizations that work with disadvantaged populations.
Tolnay-Glynn Undergraduate Research Fund
This fund provides financial support to Sociology undergraduate students, including Sociology students in the Honors Program, who are conducting independent research projects.
Sociology Graduate Fellowship Fund
Fellowship support for graduate students in the Department of Sociology within the College of Arts and Sciences.
Otto N. Larsen Endowed Fund for Graduate Student Support
Graduate student support for dissertation improvement for a dissertation that shows promise and potential.
James McCann Graduate Student Research Fund
Provides support for graduate student research, travel, and professional development.
Eleanor Zylka Endowed Chair’s Discretionary Fund
Discretionary fund to support ongoing programs, activities, initiatives, and special events that aren’t funded by state dollars or require the use of non-University funds.
Clarence and Elissa Schrag Endowed Fellowship in Sociology
Endowed support for graduate fellowships in Sociology.
S. Frank Miyamoto Endowed Professorship in Sociology
Endowed support to attract and retain distinguished faculty in the Department of Sociology.
Sociology Faculty Fellowship Endowment Fund
Fellowship support for faculty of the Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Sociology Graduate Student Travel Fund
Provides funds to graduate students in Sociology for travel to professional conferences, seminars and other professional development opportunities.

Dean's Club
You may designate your annual gift of $500 or more to the Department of Sociology and become a member of the Dean's Club. Individuals who contribute $500 or more annually to any program-or any combination of programs-in the College are honored through the Arts and Sciences Dean's Club. Last year, 920 alumni and friends joined the Dean's Club. Their gifts provided valuable support for the work of the College's faculty, staff, and students, which had an impact on the educational, cultural, and business environment in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
The benefits of Dean's Club membership include invitations to exclusive Dean's Club events throughout the year, a listing in the annual roster of donors, and invitations to programs and special events hosted by departments and programs. The President's Club
You may designate your gift of $2,000 or more to the Department of Sociology and become a member of the President's Club.
Individuals who contribute $2,000 or more annually to the University of Washington are honored through The President's Club. This recognition is given to individuals for gifts to one program or any combination of programs at the University. President's Club donors receive invitations to special events such as the Passport to Campus series each year, and are listed annually in the University's Report to Contributors.
Benefactors
Individuals with lifetime giving totaling $100,000 or more are given special recognition as University of Washington Benefactors. This recognition, which continues for the donor's lifetime, may honor gifts made in a single year or cumulative giving to one or more UW programs within ten years. (For deferred gifts, such as gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts, the recognition is based on the remainder value of the gift.) Benefactors receive invitations to special events, including a Benefactor reception with President Emmert and other University administrators, and have their names listed annually in the University's Report to Contributors.
Laureates
Individuals and organizations whose cumulative gifts total $1,000,000 or more are recognized as Laureates and receive the additional recognition of having their names listed on a donor wall in Suzzallo Library.
The Henry Suzzallo Society
In addition to recognizing individuals for gifts made during their lifetimes, the University honors individuals who provide for a future gift through membership in the Henry Suzzallo Society. Donors who include a bequest to the Department of Sociology in their will or trust, or name the College as beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement plan, are invited to join the Suzzallo Society, named for the University's sixteenth president.
