10/12/2009 Bruce Katz is a Vice President and founding Director of the Metropolitan
Policy Program at the Brooking Institution in Washington DC. The
Metropolitan Policy Program seeks to redefine the challenges facing
cities and metropolitan. Katz is specifically interested in issues such
as community reinvestment; demographic trends; economic development;
government reform; housing; poverty; state and local policy; social
policy; transportation reform; urban and metropolitan policy; urban and
regional politics; and welfare reform.
Katz is both a well-placed policy advisor and a prolific writer. He
served on the Barack Obama transition team, and is a Senior Advisor to
HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan (and also served advisory roles in the Bill
Clinton Administration). He has written extensively in the popular
